Zenoss: Notifications for events that are automatically being archived

I have an event transform that automatically sends a specific type of
event to the archive. A new requirement came up for this type of event
that once the number of events has reached 10, an email notification
should be sent to a group of users. I created a trigger that checks the
"count" field for this type of event and fires when it's value is 10, but
no emails are being sent out.
My questions are:
Will notifications work normally for events that are being automatically
archived using a transform?
In the scenario mentioned above, can anyone tell what I am doing wrong or
if there's another way to achieve the same requirement?
